Bible Software - Can You Handle The Truth?
When I first started reading the (1982) it was the Living Bible translation. I mostly read the Gospels in the New Testament to begin with. I also read the Book of Daniel, Psalms and the Book of Job. Every time I tried reading some of the other Bible books I became thoroughly confused. In some cases, I became angry because I found so many contradictions. I also found words that I know in my heart that God did not say. I am getting to the Bible software - be patient.
Scrolls
About 6 years ago I started using different methods of studying Bible verses and even tried making scrolls by following Bible references from a particular verse. Most of the scrolls were very short; they ended in less than 15 subsequent references. Two of the longest scrolls were from a reference in the Book of Job, and a reference from the New Testament 1 Corinthians 13. Those scrolls went to between 100 and 300 different different verses in both the Old and New Testaments. Each reference provided greater clarity on the original verse.
THE Scroll
Call it what you may, I was led to do a scroll from a single reference in a verse from the Book of Genesis. I thought - this should be simple enough! Little did I know from this single letter it expands to over 27,000 references and approximately 400,000 Bible verses. This scroll took over four months to do and incorporated various passages from Genesis 1:1 to the end of Revelation 22. I told God - this is the last one of those I am going to do!
And then I thought that there must be some type of Bible software program that could do this for me. Shortly thereafter I ordered a Bible software program named Logos.
Bible Software
When I installed the Logos program on my computer I tried to figure out how to use it to make scrolls. The software does not do the type of scrolls that I did by hand. But it did open to me something even more amazing and that is just how deep and scientific the Bible really is! When you study a verse or even a word in the Old or New Testament you see the real word that was used, how it is pronounced phonetically, how many times the word appears in scriptures, where it appears, and all the other words that the original word was translated into. This was an amazing revelation to me!
If you are truth seeker I seriously recommend studying the words that make up any verse. You may (will) be quite surprised at what you find. Beyond that, you will think twice before telling someone that "The Bible Says" or "God Said" because you know what it really says, and doesn't say. There are also many treasures you will find. Pay close attention to the word numbers in Hebrew or Greek and the words translations. There could be a revelation in there for you - personally!
Sometime after making many mind-boggling discoveries with the use of Bible software I read part of the forward to a New American Bible (Catholic Version). One of the comments said something to the effect that they believe that there are verses in the Bible that are messages sent thousands of years in advance (by God) to certain people and that the person to whom the verse was sent would know that this message was from God. I can attest to this being so on a firsthand basis.
If you love the truth then find it! In the Gospels Jesus said that "You will know the truth and the truth will make you free" - and it will.
